Collage experiments using positive and negative elements of a stencil

Using one of the stencils I’d made previously from a sheet of white paper with yellow ink shapes on it, I played with the shapes of the holes and pieces I’d cut out (in yellow). Stencil (1)

I preferred the image on the left where again, there is a contrast between hard – cut – edges and blurred soft edges of the spraypaint.

Cutting the original stencil apart and using the shapes to create a new image. The smaller section look like machine parts to me.

I keep being drawn back to the use on black and white with a primary colour.
