Material experiments; metal and concrete

Researching possibilities of using metals embedded in concrete. I like how some of the metal shapes are a bit hidden; it goes with an idea I am looking at about fossils.

The star could refer to the fossils of the very early sponges (eiffelia globosa) found in the middle cambrian age. The curled snaily shape a more recognisible fossil form. The pipes remind me of the snouts of pipe fish or clusters of tube corals.

Not all the experiments were successful; this one had too high a proportion of metal slices to concrete; the hollow – although I liked it aesthetically – weakened the structure too much.
