Experimenting with modular plaster shapes and latex

I’ve been playing with plaster shapes making recessed spaces within them, and casting latex from the resulting moulds.

I then cast into the forms that I’d been using to make the recesses and combining them.

I’m really interested in the results; how you can move the separate parts in different ways and insert or remove them.

It was curious to see how it combined with the latex that serves as a kind of barrier between to the main shape and it’s ‘children’, or as a way of uniting / holding the separate pieces.

It was fun to see how you can also manipulate the latex to change the positions of the smaller units. I’m going to do some larger versions exploring more; especially varying the spaces between the inserted shapes and see how that changes the tension.
