Light Corner
A site specific sculpture, using a dark corner as the starting point.
I’d been curious about creating form using light or shadow, so I took the shadows of a corner and ‘reflected’ them outwards, creating boxes of light. I liked the idea of transforming a space with potentially negative connotations – the dunce in the corner; being backed into a corner – into one of light and space.
I got interested in documenting the intersections of planes too; the way that a three-dimensional space could appear as if on a single plane, and vice versa. The image below is from a series of photographs I took of the pieces of the final sculpture before being assembled.
