Actionettes Go-Go dance class at Girl Jam
A few of The Actionettes were teaching a Go-Go taster class in Brick Lane at the weekend.
Girl Jam had put on a weekend of dance classes, taster sessions & evening socials. When we arrived in the afternoon, the girls had been dancing since 10am!

We showed them a variety of 60s moves like the Pony, Twist, Go-Go & Mashed Potato and then had them learn one of our routines to Nancy Sinatra’s These Boots are Made for Walking. We ended with Night of a Thousand Dances where we all stood in a circle, and then each took turns to start a move that we all had to follow – kind of go-go tag! – was great fun.

The Girl Jammers were super good at it, most of them having just done a far more complicated routine in Annie Ryan’s D.I.S.C.O taster class. We also realised there may be a higher chat to practise ratio at our rehearsals, as this seemed a lot more tiring than usual! :)

The weekend seemed super well attended and there are plans for another one next year – we can’t wait!
