Ah well, one of the girls at the craft club might want it… that’ll teach me to swatch, swatch and swatch again (even if it *is* deadly dull)

And looks about 3 sizes too big! Well at least I’m done knitting this, and can get on and sew it up. That’ll teach me not to swatch though. eh?

The extra ball of Matchmaker came in the post today (all the way from the states in the end!) will get on and finish it before next weekend’s craft club visit to Colinette! Mustn’t be tempted by all that pretty new wool before finishing this off..

Hmm these were started before I resolved to swatch! Which is really bad as I misguidedly replaced 4ply soft with GGH Samoa (fab yarn, but far too thick for these!) Also first go at dpn’s and had bad experiences with ladders* in the first sock, so switched to a small circular… see how that goes… anyhow these are going to end up experimental bed socks or something, rather than any that you would wear with shoes!

*even after reading tips on how to avoid them, they appeared…

Yarn: GGH Samoa (green: sh 90 / lot 5052, light pink: sh 113 / lot 2487 and dark pink: sh 37 / lot 7532)
Needles: Suggested needles 3 & 3.25 / actual needles 3.75mm.

Ooeee – this has been being knitted for an age now (almost a year!)… so much so that the colour of the wool I need to finish it has been discontinued… after much searching of shops and ebay I have finally placed an order in the states so a £3 ball of wool has now become about a £10 one! It’s worth it to finish this though – It will be my first proper finished jumper (for an adult!)

Pattern: Short Sleeved Diamond Stitch Sweater ( Vintage Knits: Sarah Dallas)
Yarn: 5 x Jaeger Matchmaker Merino 4 ply Burgundy (sh 727 lot 6L1) and a bit of Rowan Kidsilk Haze in Candy Girl and Marmalade (I think because, guess what, I lost the labels!)
Needles: 2.75 & 3.25mm. I didn’t swatch for this, so goodness knows how it will come out! most likely this is the source of my running-out-of-wool frustration too…
